About West Yorkshire Driver Training

West Yorkshire Driver Training is part of Manchester Driver Training Group.

Manchester Driver Training is an experienced provider of learner driver tuition and many other specialist courses.

In response to the Covid pandemic causing delays with availability of driving instructors we have offered opportunities to people living in Wakefield West Yorkshire, who would like to provide driving lessons. This creates a two fold benefit, firstly by creating jobs and incomes for people, secondly with more driving instructors available within an area it creates less of a wait for those who are looking for driving lessons.

Manual Learner Driver Tuition

Learner driver provisional licence holders inclusive of beginners, intermediate & test standard pupils.

Full Licence Refresher Lessons

This service is designed for full licence holders who have:

• Not driven for a period of time since passing their driving test.
• Had a break from driving.
• Been involved in an accident and want to rebuild confidence.
• Want to practice a particular element of driving e.g. manoeuvres or roundabouts.
• Would like to build up their confidence and skill before purchasing a car.
• People who would like some extra practice with a driving instructor before obtaining their company car.
• Option to have a refresher driving lesson in your own vehicle (safety permitting).
• It is ideal to start with a 2 hour lesson and then decide from there how you wish to proceed.

Motorway Driving Lessons

Motorway driving lessons cover topics such as:

• Joining and leaving the motorway safely.
• Changing lane.
• Safety procedures.
• How to safely check your blindspots on the move.
• Route planning.
• Trial run for commute to a new job.
• Sat Nav driving.
• Option to have a motorway lesson in your own vehicle (safety permitting).

Retraining for drivers who have lost their licence or had their licence revoked

• You must have firstly completed your ban to be able to start your retraining.
• You will be assessed on your current standard of drive to see how far off it is from the required driving test standard.
• Your instructor will work with you on any areas of practice needed.

International Licence Conversion and European Union Licence Conversion

There are 2 courses available:

• For drivers who wish to prepare for a U.K. Driving Test.
• For drivers who wish to undertake a few refresher lessons using the licence which they currently hold

(Your licence must be valid to drive in the U.K. if you are not using a provisional licence to drive on)

This course helps:

• Drivers who are use to driving on an international licence and in other parts of Europe.
• Drivers who are use to driving on the opposite side of the road.
• Drivers who are use to using a Km/h speedo instead of a MPH speedo.
• You will learn the behaviour of U.K. traffic.
• You will learn how to approach U.K. junctions safely and increase your awareness and safety.
• Help prepare you for a U.K. driving test if required.

If you require refresher lessons only prices are:

Second Opinion Independent Mock Driving Tests

Second opinion independent mock driving tests are designed for test standard pupils who are undertaking driving lessons with another driving school or driving instructor.

The assessment looks at your current standard of drive and compares it to that of the U.K. driving test standard.

The aim is for you to be made aware of how you may drive under pressure on your driving test day with an unknown driving examiner instead of your current driving instructor who you have learnt to drive with.

This course is normally 2 hours in duration as you will require:

• Travel time to the driving test centre.
• 40 Minutes for your practice test assessment.
• Verbal debrief after your practice test assessment.
• Any remedial practice after your practice test and travel time home.

The mock test will be conducted at the driving test centre of your choice using a route which you may need to negotiate on your actual driving test day.

Semi Intensive and Intensive driving courses

• Semi intensive courses are scheduled e.g. 2 hours a day over the duration of 5 days to a few weeks.
• Full intensive courses are scheduled e.g. 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 hours a day over the course of a week or two sometimes with breaks in between training days.
• Our intensive driving courses are delivered on a one to one basis.

These courses are ideal for those who are aiming for a faster way of learning to drive and have budgeted for a semi or intensive driving course.

All intensive training courses are priced at £50 per hour for each hour of in car one to one training.

Intensive courses are normally scheduled as 5 hours in duration and cost £250 for each 5 hour intensive day.

If you have special requirements e.g. you want to travel to a completely different area for a driving test that is outside of your local area please let us know so that we can confirm the price of the training course for you.

Driving Test Cover and Emergency Driving Test Cover Service

We aim to supply a driving instructor and training vehicle to people who need driving test cover for a pre booked driving test.

This service is ideal for:

• Test standard pupils who have undertaken a previous driving test and were very close to passing.
• Test standard pupils who’s driving instructor has suddenly become unavailable for their driving test.
• People who have found a short notice driving test and are looking for a driving instructor to help them.

This service is not ideal for:

• People who have never undertaken driving lessons with a driving instructor before.
• People who are not use to U.K. driving roads.
• People who have not prepared properly for their driving test.

Terms and conditions regarding our driving test and emergency driving test cover service:

We will always provide an initial assessment lesson to make sure that you are at driving test standard before the day of your driving test.
If you are not at driving test standard your instructor would not allow his or her training vehicle to be used for your driving test appointment due to the safety risks involved.
We would only be able to then take you for your test if you were able to reach test standard in time after undertaking the required training.

This service is offered subject to driving instructor availability at the time of enquiry.

Any extra training required is subject to instructor availability.

We are aware some people book a driving test appointment outside of their own area to obtain an earlier driving test appointment, so please email us your requirements so that we can confirm instructor availability and confirm a price for your requirements.

Payments / Terms and Conditions / Covid safety

Payments:

As we promote good hygiene practice all lesson or course payments are currently made by BACS.
Course and lesson payments can be made by Mobile Banking App / Online Banking / Telephone Banking.
Once a lesson or course appointment or appointments are confirmed we ask that payment is made within 24 hours to complete the booking – thank you.
All details regarding lesson payments are sent with your lesson confirmation email.

Lesson appointment emails confirm:

• The name of your driving instructor.
• The date, time, and duration of your lesson or course.
• The price of the lesson or course which you are booking.

Terms and Conditions:

If you need to cancel or change any regular weekly driving lessons or one of the services which we offer, (excluding semi intensive and intensive driving crash courses) please give 48 hours notice to your allocated driving instructor to avoid payment.
If you are unwell e.g. with illness such as Flu or Covid please notify your instructor as soon as you are able to.
Your lesson or course will be rescheduled for you free of charge once you are completely recovered.
If you have booked a semi intensive or intensive driving crash course, these courses are normally booked weeks or sometimes months in advance.
Please give 14 days notice if you wish to cancel or change any scheduled semi or intensive course training appointments.
Gift vouchers, prepaid lessons & block bookings have a 1 year expiry date from when they were first purchased.
If you are threatening either verbally or physically to your allocated driving instructor your driving lesson or course appointment would immediately be brought to an end.
You would loose whatever training time or lesson time you still had remaining that day with no refund offered.
You would be refunded any outstanding training hours that you had remaining in credit as long as they fell outside of our 48 hour notice rule.

We would like to thank all pupils who are committed and work hard with their instructor to reach their goals.

Covid Safety:

To avoid the spread of Covid we make sure that there is adequate ventilation in the training vehicle at all times.
Both instructor and pupil must wear suitable face coverings if the Covid Virus transmission rates are high.
In between each driving lesson your instructor will sanitise the controls and door handles of the training vehicle to promote cleanliness.
If you feel unwell with any symptoms of flu or colds or illness please notify your instructor as soon as you can.
